Good Neighbor Policy
The purpose of our Good Neighbor Policy is to let you know who we are and try to resolve any property management issues you may have with a County facility. We hope that by following the Good Neighbor Policy, there will be few issues with County facilities in the community.
County contractor facilities will have signs posted or may distribute notices about a service site in your neighborhood. These notices will
include the phone number of an on-site person with whom you may discuss your concerns. All other County facilities are clearly identified.
County staff and contractors will attempt to engage community members in discussions regarding new facilities or changes in operations that
will impact the neighborhood.
The Sacramento County Good Neighbor Hotline
at (916) 874-3486 can assist you in resolving your issues if the site contact is unable to do
so.
General Services is not responsible for the information provided in the Good Neighbor Policy web site. This information is

Which County facilities does this Policy pertain to?
This policy applies to all County owned and leased facilities; and to Contractor facilities having an impact to the community
different from those conditions which currently exist.
-
What kind of issues can be addressed under this policy?
Property management issues such as increased traffic, insufficient parking, graffiti, litter, landscaping not maintained at the
existing neighborhood standard, loitering, noise, and security concerns.
-
How will I know if a site is a County facility?
Most County owned and leased facilities are clearly identified including the department name. Contractor facilities will either
post a sign or distribute notices indicating that the site provides services to the County.
-
Who can I talk to if I have a concern about a County facility?
The site contact shown on the sign or notice, and County department staff responsible for the facility will be able to assist you
in addressing your concerns. If the site contact has been unable to resolve your issues, contact the Good Neighbor Hotline at
874-3486.
-
What if I do not know if the site is a County facility?
Contact the Good Neighbor Hotline at (916) 874-3486 and a representative will find out who owns or funds the facility. A referral
or contact phone number will be provided.
-
Will my issue be resolved if the site is not a County facility?
The Good Neighbor Hotline can assist you in resolving your issues or will make useful referrals. Sacramento County is continually
working with other government entities and local businesses. Our efforts will include informing them of the Good Neighbor Policy and
encouraging them to adopt similar policies.
-
Can you help me with a problem with my neighbor who is not a service provider?
The Good Neighbor Hotline staff will recommend mediation services or other services available in the community. Mediation will
require both parties to agree to this dispute resolution method.
-
The service provider in my neighborhood provides services to clients with a past who make me fearful for my safety. Can
you require that they take security measures?
Service providers are not required to employ any more security measures than other businesses unless it has been demonstrated by
loitering, or confrontational behavior that there is a security issue.
-
If I don't want a new facility in my neighborhood, what can I do?
The County will meet with the community in advance of siting the facility to let you know about the site and hear your concerns.
The site may still be located there; however, we will make reasonable efforts to address your concerns.
-
If I know that the policy is not being followed, what should I do?
Contact the Sacramento County Good Neighbor Hotline at (916)874-3486 and a representative will attempt to address your
concerns.
